The one inevitable thing and Everyone’s biggest nightmare is death. Different religions and different philosophies have their own understanding of death. The great Mark Twain says “There are two most important days in your life and that is the day you are born and the day you understand why” i could not convince myself to accept the former but i can to an extent understand the latter. According to my philosophy the day of death is as important as the day of your birth.

End of the Journey

The sentence above might puzzle you and you might wonder why would anyone consider the day of death as an important one? We can look at death like this- Life as it is a long exam where you try to master and get your hands on things like Love,Money,Family and what not. Some of us go on to excel at this and some of us fail miserably. But death on the other hand is the day of result and as funny as it may sound we can consider our entire existence as an exam and our departure as a result. This result sheet will consist of the lives you have changed, The impact you have made and most importantly the contribution you’ve made for the betterment of the human race.

On this day of result one will truly understand how well he has lived his life. This is why i consider the day of death is as important as the day of birth! There are quiet a few ways you can look at it and some of them are as follows.

1. Journey

The vast majority of the human world finds solace in travelling. Some of us like it and Some of us detest it but at some point in our life we are forced to go on a Journey be it a physical journey or a mental journey. When you look at the bigger picture we can consider life as a journey that someone’s put us into. Anything that starts has to end and our Journey is no different. Death can be considered as the last stop in one’s journey.

2. Plan

As you read this look around you. Did it all happen overnight or did it take millions of years to happen? The answer to this question is very simple. Your existence here was planned for millions of years and from the place where you’re sitting to place where you sleep was planned extensively by some powerful entity and Death is no different Just like every other thing that is planned in your course of existence death is also a part of the plan and fortunately it’s the last one.

3. Contribution

Let’s take an organization that is 200 years old. The very fact that it’s still there for 200 years tells us that different people have made different contribution in different ways for the survival of this organization. Analogous to this we can consider the universe as an organization. But here there is no question of survival as the survival of universe is independent of the human contribution but different people have made their tiny contribution to help us understand the universe better. Death can be considered as a point where the universe decides to offer a different perspective to it’s inhabitants or as a point where universe is like “Well done buddy, Kinda bored with your work”

The common consensus is that death brings sorrow with it but when we look at the bigger picture it’s not the death that brings sorrow but the millions of memories and the fact that we are no longer with that person is what actually is sad.
